Re-roofing the Memorial Hall, Summer 2026
Hall Roofing Update, 22 September 2026
Work on our roof is proceeding well and has been greatly helped by the dry weather. The underlying timber work on one side of the roof has been renovated. Re-tiling on this side of the building will begin shortly. On the other side of the roof, the old tiles will now be lifted. The need to make good the supporting wooden structure of the roof has unfortunately extended the project by a few weeks. This could potentially take us to the end of October 2026 but we will keep you updated as the work progresses.
To facilitate this work and expedite its completion, the Hall is now closed completely during week days but opening at weekends for existing bookings. If you have a weekend booking, please be aware that it may well be dusty inside. The security fencing has been re-arranged to allow normal access to the front doors, although the key safe will not be accessible and alternative arrangements have been made.
We sincerely apologise for this disruption and hope that we all reap the benefits of a safer and warmer building in the future.
The Memorial Hall

A Community Hub
Somewhere to meet and participate, the Memorial Hall is used by local groups, clubs and societies as well as for private functions and business activities.

The Power of Volunteers
Ninfield Memorial Hall is run by a dedicated group of volunteers who are committed to making the Hall an attractive, comfortable and safe place to be. We welcome new volunteers and if you are interested in joining us, please do drop us a line.

A Little Bit of History
Although the Hall has been modernised, the building dates back to ca. 1865-70 when it was first used as a drill hall for the Cinque Ports Artillery Volunteers. After the first World War, it was purchased by the village in 1921 from the Normanhurst Estate when it became Ninfield Village Memorial Hall.

One of our most popular regular events at the Memorial Hall are our Saturday Markets. There is so much to see, these monthly markets showcase the best of local crafts and produce. There is NO admission charge!
